Where your data goes

Effective 27 October 2026 · Version 2.1 (weather now comes from Apple WeatherKit)

Fishing Log is a decision tool for fishing weather. We treat "collect less" as a feature: the app needs no account, and your spots, catches and photos stay on your own phone by default.

1. What we collect

Data typePurposeLinked to your identityUsed for tracking
Coarse location (city level) Fetched once, only when you tap "Use Current Location", to look up local weather and to reverse-geocode a city name for display No No

Nothing else

2. Where your data lives

Everything you enter — spots, sessions, catches, notes and photos — is stored on this device (in the iOS database) and is never synced to our servers. Uninstalling the app or deleting a record deletes the data.

Weather and index data are cached locally so the app works offline; that cache is local too.

3. When the app goes online

Beyond these services we share data with no third party, and the app contains no advertising or analytics SDK.

4. Why the app asks for permissions

PermissionPurposeIf you decline
Location (while using)Fetched once, only when you tap "Use Current Location": a coarse position used to look up weather and to reverse-geocode a city name for displayYou can still choose a city by hand; every feature works
Photos (add)Only when you tap "Save share card", to write the card image to your photo libraryYou cannot save the share card; nothing else is affected

5. Children

Fishing Log is intended for a general audience. It is not designed for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes (for example, if a new category of data is collected), we will update the effective date at the top of this page and tell you inside the app. Material changes will be announced in advance.
